The easiest, most delicious dessert when you’re looking for a quick sweet fix! All you need is three ingredients and 15 minutes. Think Mini Tarte Tatin!
The upside-down puff pastry trend has taken all over TikTok, and while I’m not one for trends, I could not resist this one. It’s simple and absolutely genius! I love all the savory variations. But you know I had to give it a sweet twist!
And what better than a caramel apple paired with flaky puff pastry? They are like mini, individual Tarte Tatins.
And they could not get any easier. All you need is sugar, apple, and store-bought puff pastry!
Here’s how to make upside-down apple puffs.
- Make the caramel by cooking the sugar until it’s melted and amber in color.
- Peel, core, and slice the apples in half.
- Add a spoonful of the caramel on a baking sheet, top with flaky salt, and place half an apple on top. Place a puff pastry square on top of the apple, and pinch and turn the sides until the pastry is hugging the apple and forms a rough round shape.
- Give the pastry an egg wash, top with sugar, and bake until golden brown. Top with some ice cream, and enjoy!
As I said, all you need is 3 ingredients and 15 minutes!
Love apple desserts? Me, too! Here are a few recipes you will love.
PS: I always measure ingredients in grams, never in cups. Using a measuring scale is the only way to bake accurately. Cups are unreliable and can give different measurements, so I suggest you buy a measuring scale before you start baking! If you can’t get your hands on one, you can use the online tools for converting grams into cups; however, I do not guarantee their accuracy.
