This delicious and simple Kinder cake is the perfect dessert for every Kinder-loving heart. Rich and delicious chocolate cake layers paired with a crunchy Kinder Bueno filling and a silky smooth Kinder ganache – this cake is jam-packed with Kinder flavors! Made with just a few pantry ingredients, this cake is perfect when you want to impress people with minimal effort.
While I love all chocolates, Kinder has a special place in my heart. It’s one chocolate that I have grown up with and still love the same even now. As a kid, I was obsessed with the Kinder surprise eggs; I mean, who wasn’t? As I grew older and discovered the Kinder chocolate bars, I loved those even more until I finally found the supreme chocolate – Kinder Bueno.
Honestly, Kinder Bueno is an absolute 10/10 chocolate bar. It’s chocolatey and crunchy, not too sweet, and gives the perfect balance of textures. It’s a truly elite chocolate bar, and no one can change my mind. And by the looks of it, the rest of the world & I have mutual feelings about Kinder because wherever I go now, I spot at least a few Kidner desserts. It’s the new-age Nutella, just better.
Naturally, whenever I see a Kinder dessert on the menu, I have to try it. Yet, I haven’t found one that correctly encapsulated Kinder’s flavors. They all end up tasting like any generic chocolate dessert, and I struggled to find the “kinderness” of these desserts, so, of course, I had to create one 😬. However, I must mention that this Kinder cake is inspired by a dessert called “Kinderama” from a local restaurant in Dubai. The dessert at the cafe is good, no doubt, but it could be great. So here we are, making it great.
It’s really the simplest dessert ever -> 2 layers of rich chocolate cake made with my simple chocolate cake recipe + Kinder Bueno whipped cream filling + Kinder chocolate ganache. It comes together in just an hour and makes for the most delicious dessert ever.
The Pull-Up Cake Technique
As simple as it is, The Kinder Cake can also be turned into an absolute showstopper of a dessert for your next event using the pull-up cake method. If you haven’t seen a pull-up cake on social media yet…congratulations on the 1 hour a day screentime! This cake technique has taken the world by storm and is a fantastic way to turn a simple dessert into a theatrical experience.
The concept of a pull-up cake is simple – the layered cake is lined with a sheet of acetate paper and topped with a warm, liquid sauce which oozes out when the acetate is pulled up to release the sauce. It creates theatre and drama and takes any dessert from 100 to a thousand.
This Kinder Cake is the perfect dessert to use the pull-up cake technique on – we have the cake and the ganache that acts as the sauce; it’s just about assembly.
How to assemble a pull-up cake
- Complete assembling the layers and fillings of your cake. Important: Don’t add any frosting on the outside of the cake, as the frosting will stick to the acetate sheet. Keep the cake bare from the outside.
- Measure the cake and cut an acetate sheet long enough to cover the cake’s sides. Make sure that the acetate strip is a little taller than the height of the cake. Add a small strip of tape on one end of the acetate sheet to stick the two ends.
- Place the acetate sheet around the cake and tape the ends together. The entire cake should be covered from the sides. Make sure that the sheet is secured tightly so that the liquid sauce does not ooze out.
- When you are ready to serve, heat the chocolate ganache, then pour it on top of the cake, not any higher than the height of the acetate sheet. Make sure that the sauce is of running consistency and not too thick.
- Hold the top of the acetate sheet from both hands and pull it up slowly. The sauce will ooze out ad create a dramatic, theatrical effect.
Acetate sheets are readily available on Amazon. I use these acetate sheets as they are sturdy and high-quality.
This can easily be made without the pull-up technique as well; all you need to do is pour the warm ganache on the cake before serving. It will be equally delicious, just not as dramatic.
Now let’s go into a bit of depth about the kinder components of the cake.
The Kinder Ganache
The Kinder ganache is the simplest component of this recipe; all you need is 2 components – Kinder chocolate and heavy cream/liquid whipping cream/double cream (whatever it’s called where you live).
I have used the Kinder maxi chocolate bars for this ganache as it should be smooth, silky, and not crunchy. You can also use the Kinder milk chocolate bars that come in a box.
To make the Kinder ganache, chop the chocolate into small pieces, then pour hot cream on top of it. Let the cream sit for 2 minutes, allowing the chocolate to melt from the heat of the cream, then mix with a whisk until all the chocolate has melted and combined with a cream to create a shiny, smooth ganache.
The ganache can be heated on the stove or the microwave before serving.
The Kinder Bueno Filling
This Kinder Bueno filling is definitely my favorite part of this dessert. It’s creamy, crunchy, and jam-packed with Kinder Bueno. The fun part about this filling is that you can add as much Kinder Bueno in it as your heart desires. I have used A LOT of Kinder Bueno for this recipe, but it’s never too much. So if you want to add more, feel free!
Again, the cream is made with two simple ingredients – whipping cream and Kinder Buenos- whipped together until you have a stable cream.
Make sure you add a THICK layer of the filling to your cake. As it’s made with whipped cream, it’s not too heavy and will not overwhelm the dessert. Instead, it will help the Kinder flavor shine through.
If you’re anything like me, your mouth is watering at this point.
Am I wrong? 😏
Let’s get started with the recipe, then!
PS: I always measure ingredients in grams, never in cups. Using a measuring scale is the only way to bake accurately. Cups are unreliable and can give different measurements, so I suggest you buy a measuring scale before you start baking! If you can’t get your hands on one, you can use the online tools for converting grams into cups; however, I do not guarantee their accuracy.

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Prepare the cake pans by greasing them with butter and flour to ensure the cake does not stick while baking.

Once the buttermilk is ready, add the remaining liquid ingredients – oil, egg, and vanilla essence in the same bowl and whisk until lightly combined.125 ml full-fat milk, 1 tbsp vinegar, 60 ml neutral oil, 1 egg, 1 tsp vanilla essence
- In a bowl, combine all your dry ingredients: flour, white sugar, brown sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and coffee powder, using a hand whisk.120 gs all-purpose flour, 100 gs white granulated sugar, 100 gs brown sugar, 38 gs cocoa powder, 1 tsp baking powder, 3/4th tsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp coffee powder
- Add the liquid ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix on medium speed using an electric or stand mixer until everything is well combined.
- With the mixer on low, pour the boiling water into the batter and keep mixing until the water is well incorporated. Be careful at this step; the water may splash if the speed of your mixer is too high. After this step, you will end up with a thin batter.125 ml boiling water
- Pour the batter into your cake pans and bake for 20 mins or until a test toothpick comes out clean. Let the cake layers cool before assembling.
- Make the Kinder Ganache: Add the Kinder Maxi Chocolate pieces to a heat-proof bowl. Heat the cream in a saucepan until it just starts bubbling, making sure not to bring it to a boil. Pour the hot cream over the chocolate and let it sit for 2 minutes, allowing the chocolate to melt from the heat of the cream. Whisk the cream until the chocolate is completely melted and combined, resulting in a silky, smooth ganache. Set aside until ready to use.250 gs Kinder Maxi chocolate bars, chopped in small pieces, 250 ml heavy cream/double cream/liquid whipping cream
- Make the Kinder Bueno Filling: Whip the whipped/heavy cream to medium peaks, then add the crushed Kinder Bueno bars and whip until you have a stable cream.200 ml whipped cream, 12 whole Kinder Bueno Bars (total 24 sticks), crushed
- Assembly: Place the cooled cake layer on a cake board and top it with a thick layer of the Kinder Bueno filling. You can choose to use the entire filling here or leave some for decorating the top part of the cake. Place the second cake layer on top of the filling, then decorate the top with the remaining cream and more Kidner Bueno pieces. Top with warm ganache before serving. Refer to the next step for assembling the pull-up technique.
- Pull-Up Cake Assembly: After the cake layers have been assembled, Measure the cake and cut an acetate sheet long enough to cover the cake's sides. Make sure that the acetate strip is a little taller than the height of the cake. Add a small strip of tape on one end of the acetate sheet to stick the two ends. Place the acetate sheet around the cake and tape the ends together. The entire cake should be covered from the sides. Make sure that the sheet is secured tightly so that the liquid sauce does not ooze out. When you are ready to serve, heat the chocolate ganache, then pour it on top of the cake, not any higher than the height of the acetate sheet. Make sure that the sauce is of running consistency and not too thick. Hold the top of the acetate sheet from both hands and pull it up slowly. The sauce will ooze out ad create a dramatic, theatrical effect.
