Anyone who knows me knows that breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. How could it not be? Breakfast food is elite – cereal, pancakes, waffles, crepes, croissants, pastries….what’s not to love?
I could literally eat breakfast food all day every day. Pancakes for dinner? Hell yes. Cereal for lunch? Count me in! and yes, it HAS to be sweet every time.
So yes, I am deeply passionate about breakfast food.
Another thing I am very passionate about is toasties – diagonally cut toasties, to be specific. I truly believe that everything tastes better when sandwiched between two slices of bread, and nothing can change my mind. If I could, I’d turn every meal into a sandwich. I really would.
Bread just makes everything better, don’t you think?
Anyway, I am always looking for new breakfast recipes cause you know, breakfast is the best. And the other day I came up with this recipe which I would say is in the top 3 breakfasts I’ve ever made, no kidding. And you know why? Cause it combines two of my favorite things to eat – cinnamon rolls and toasties/sandwiches.
Yes, I created a cinnamon roll toastie. And yes, it tastes as delicious as it sounds.
If you’re thinking – “God, I don’t have time to create an elaborate breakfast! Doesn’t she understand?”, I have good news for you, my friend. I understand completely, which is why I am happy to tell you that this recipe is the opposite of elaborate and takes 10-15 minutes AT MOST.
And no, you don’t need ANY fancy equipment. You could literally whip this up in a dorm room.
So yes, you can eat a cinnamon roll-inspired breakfast toastie without doing much work.
You’re welcome. 😏
I have nothing more to say about this because I am sure you are already convinced.
So why are we still talking? LET’S MAKE THE BEST BREAKFAST TOASTIE YOU HAVE EVER EATEN!
Cinnamon Roll Breakfast Sandwich
Equipment
- You don’t need any fancy equipment! Just your every day cooking things
Ingredients
- 56 gs butter, softened
- 50 gs brown sugar
- 8 gs cinnamon powder
- 5 gs all-purpose flour
- Cinnamon Sugar
- Icing Sugar
- Full-fat milk
Instructions
- Make the filling: In a bowl, add softened butter (56 gs), brown sugar (50 gs), cinnamon powder (8 gs), and flour (5 gs) and whisk together until you have a smooth mixture. Make sure that the butter is soft, at room temperature, and not melted. You want the filling to have a spreadable consistency.
- Take 4 slices of your favorite bread, spread melted butter on one side of each slice, then sprinkle some cinnamon sugar on top of the butter. The butter will help the cinnamon sugar stick on the bread. Make sure you cover the entire surface of the bread with the sugar mixture. You can make cinnamon sugar by mixing sugar and cinnamon, nothing complicated!
- Spread a thick layer of the cinnamon butter filling on one of the bread slices, then place the second slice on top.
- Heat a non-stick pan on medium heat, then place the toastie on it. Cook on med-low heat until the sugar is melted and has formed a crunchy crust on the bread. Make sure you don’t turn the heat very high or the sugar will burn. Flip the toastie and cook the other side until it reaches the same stage.
- While the toastie is cooking, make a quick icing sugar glaze by combining icing sugar and milk until you reach a thick but pourable consistency.
- Once the toastie is cooked, pour some of the icing sugar glaze on top, cut the cinnamon roll toastie (diagonally, of course), and enjoy!
That’s it! This is probably one of the easiest and tastiest breakfast recipes I have ever made. This cinnamon roll toastie literally runs on rotation for breakfast at our house! And I think it will in yours, too 😉.
If you love cinnamon rolls, you absolutely cannot miss out on this recipe. And it can get easier than this, so no excuses!
