Who said you can’t eat apple pie for breakfast? This delicious, quick, and easy apple pie sandwich is the best way of giving your breakfast a sweet twist with minimum effort. Made with the simplest pantry ingredients, this apple pie toastie comes together in less than 20 minutes!
First things first, if you’re one of those people who think that breakfast should “always be healthy”, you might want to see yourself out, because my friend, this is definitely not the right place for you.
And to the rest of you, welcome to the breakfast cult where we live and die for epic sweet breakfast dishes. You’ll love it here π.
If you know me, you know that novelty breakfast toasties are kinda my thing. I love turning everything into sandwiches cause let’s face it, everything tastes better sandwiched between two slices of bread. I mean, I literally LIVE for bread. Please, don’t ever deprive yourself of this joy of life just because someone on the internet told you that you should be “cutting carbs”. The only way you should ever cut carbs is diagonal with a butter knife (cause diagonally cut sandwiches are superior, duh).
Anyway, let’s get back to the apple pie sandwich. As I said, I’m kind of a breakfast toastie connoisseur. My cinnamon roll toastie and Kunafa toastie have been some of the most loved recipes to date and for good reason. So when fall arrived, I knew I had to make an autumn-themed breakfast sandwich, and what could be better than an apple pie sandwich?
Nothing, nothing can be better than it. It’s literally apple pie filling stuffed between two slices of bread drenched in butter, topped with cinnamon sugar, and toasted to perfection. I mean, does that not sound like the best breakfast ever?
The crunchy, crispy cinnamon-sugar toast acts as the perfect substitute for traditional pie crust and complements the gooey apple filling beautifully.
I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve already made this recipe for breakfast. And not just cause it tastes absolutely spectacular, but also cause it comes together in less than 20 minutes. I personally prefer not to spend TOO much time making breakfast, which is why I love this recipe so much.
All you have to do is chop your apples, mix them with the other ingredients, and cook them down for 5 mins to create the apple filling. Sandwich the apple filling between your buttered cinnamon sugar bread and toast it to perfection. You’re ready to go!
I have used regular sandwich bread cause we are quite limited in our bread choices where I live. However, brioche would also work well!
Pro tip: If you want the apple filing to have more texture, use granny smith (green) apples as they hold their texture. For a more gooey, soft filling, use red apples like fuji or gala.
Okay, I think we have spoken enough and I’m certain that I have convinced you to give this apple pie sandwich recipe a try π, so let’s get started!
PS: I always measure ingredients in grams, never in cups. Using a measuring scale is the only way to bake accurately. Cups are very unreliable and can give different measurements, so I would suggest you buy a measuring scale before you start baking! If you canβt get your hands on one, you can use the online tools for converting grams into cups, however, I do not guarantee their accuracy.
